Home Insurance Discounts

I did a video the other day sharing 3 discounts that can apply to most home products - including Homeowner, Condo Owner & Renter. I thought I'd put it here for my reader friends :)

1. Advanced Quote Discount

Most carriers will apply what is called an Advanced Quote Discount. This means you are shopping for your insurance in advance and the company sees that as you being a responsible individual. You can see a discount anywhere from 3%-8%. Not bad for just looking at rates in the future!

2. Alarm Discount

Most carriers will offer a discount if your home is centrally connected with a company that will monitor the alarm system on your home. This means that if the alarm is triggered, a company will automatically contact the insured or dispatch local authorities to check out the property. There is a smaller discount offered for systems that are manual surveillance type similar to something like Ring, Arlo, etc. This is when you have a camera attached to your home and if the alarm or motion is detected on the property, a notification goes out to your phone or whoever the subscriber is.

Both of these alarm types offer a small discount. It can range depending on the type of system you have and the carrier, but you can expect a discount around 1%-3% off your policy premium.

3. Bundling!

Again, I know I mentioned this in the Car Insurance Discounts video so this isn't anything new. However, the discount is much greater on the Home side because companies really love to insure your home. They will give you anywhere between 20%-40%! That's HUGE! And a great reason to bundle your Home with you Car insurance because you are saving on both policies and this could equal hundreds in savings.
